Youtube

All of America knows that logo (left). That's right it's the Youtube logo.
The cool thing about Youtube is anyone can view videos, but only people with accounts can post videos. If you read my blog often then you know I will tell all about it. So, to start off you need to sign up. Once you fill
the information in the form then it will load it into the youtube server. Then it will divert you the login page. It will then show you a page like this (below).

Now we will talk about channels. A channel is your page on Youtube. Here is a sample channel. As you saw that was my channel. When you upload a video it will appear on your channel. Now to upload a video first find a video you want to upload. Next click on this link. Now don't expect many views as soon as you upload it. If you want many views do funny stuff and spontaneous things. Let's say Silly Sally Sue from Huntsville, Alabama
sees a cool video she wants to put it on her blog she can use on embed link which is in html format. That will look like this. Then the world can see the cool video. She can also use a regular hyperlink like this "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zInVFNazgU". A new feature on youtube lets the user directly upload videos by webcam. This feature is called Quick Capture.
Click here to see quick capture. So, to wrap up youtube is unique and interesting.
If you have any questions about youtube or ideas for future posts place them in the comments.

Feeds

You probably recognize the orange logo at the left. It is the web common web feed logo. More specifically the RSS logo. But what is web feed? Basically web feed is on websites that are constantly changing. By subscribing to feeds you can get informed when the website is updated. One way is by Google Feed Reader, but I will talk about that later. You can subscribe to the posts at the end of this page through Atom (another web feed). Here are the pros of feeds. You can get new info from the feed without going to the site. How does this help? This has lower risks of picking up viruses and lowers the need for phishing filters. Phishing is when a hacker copies a website in attempt to get the user's personal information such as pin number, Username & Password to an account, or a multitude of things that can have a negative effect on you. To subscribe to a feed there is (on some computers) an RSS feed symbol button that allows you to subscribe to feeds. I'd say the best way to get feeds is to go to Google Feed Reader and click "Add a subscription" then you can type in the website you want feeds from. A really interesting fact about subscribing to feeds is that you don't to give any personal information to subscribe to a feed. An alternative is to look up "feeds" in your help manual and then see if it says how to save it as a live bookmark. If not please explain the situation in the comments. Well in one sentence: "Web feeds are a way of getting information from sites without ads, viruses, phishing, or any other malicious ways of causing harm to you and your computer." If you have any questions about web feeds or ideas for new technology articles, please post them in the comments.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a great program and can be used for many things. First you must buy Excel or you can also download openoffice. First we will discuss functions between cells. For those of you who have never worked with Excel before cells are blocks that you put information in. And functions are how cells relate ex.(click on C3 click the = sign and type A1+B2)(above). After that you can play around with cells A1 and B2. Now we will talk graphs & charts. Data in cells can be put into graphs and charts by pressing the graph/chart button (left). You must select the data to be made into a chart/graph (above left).
After you select the data you will be given a selection of charts/graphs. Here is an example of a bar graph (left). If you have any questions or suggestions for future articles please post in comments.

Skype

Skype is a program used for communication and some of the ways will blow your mind. There are three versions of Skype (Windows, Mac, Linux), and each version is different. I'm sorry for this inconvenience, but the only version I can talk about is Linux (this is because my laptop is Eee PC which runs on Xandros Linux). First you need to download Skype for Linux, Windows, or Mac. Next you create an account, on the first time you startup Skype where it says "Skype Name" underneath it click "Don't have a Skype Name yet?" and fill out the form (above). Now we will talk about modes. Skype modes are different ways of letting people know who you are on Skype. The first mode is "online", so this is pretty straight forward it means you are on Skype. Next is "Skype Me". This one isn't so direct, when you change to "Skype Me" you get an alert box saying that "When you change to 'Skype Me' you will let everyone that is on Skype will know that you are online". This mode's purpose is to let you meet new people online. Now is "Away & Not Available". It is an automatic setting based on time. "Do Not Disturb" is when you are online but do not wish to be called. "Invisible" is great if you are a business owner. Invisible is a mode that does not your contacts to see that you are online and you can still call your contacts. "Offline" is just as straight forward as "Online". It simply means that you are not online. Now is video conferencing. To video call your contact click the green telephone. Then you can talk all you want for FREE. To show video buy a webcam click here to search webcams. Chatting is a way of talking to a person through a chat room. To begin a chat click the blue chat bubble (upper right). To call ordinary phones you must pay a fee. You can either use Skype Credit or pay monthly. This is all I can say about Skype. If you have questions or ideas for an entree post it in the comments.

Step 2) In Scratch press share and fill out the form (above). In the Scratch website you have a page with your favorite projects and the projects you've made.
